Origins & migration
Document the Carteret Gould line backward from Laughlin’s location, and reconstruct the Limerick Goold–Quin network independently.
Kinship & associates
Establish relationships from records, then test witnesses, land, merchants, religious communities and migration corridors for independent overlap.
DNA
Use genetic evidence only when it can be anchored to documented descendant lines. DNA remains evidence to interpret, not a substitute for genealogy.
STANDARD OF CONCLUSION
A transatlantic relationship remains undefined until records or appropriately anchored genetic evidence establish one. Evidence of separate origins carries equal documentary weight.
